Global Media and Information Literacy Week, 2019
Event title- Wise and Inventive ScreenAgers
The annual global celebration of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week will be celebrated on the 31st of October by all four schools partners. The worldwide event is led by UNESCO and our joint event will be registered on the worldwide map of events.
Description- A joint event, concurrently organized by 4 Erasmus+ partner schools which run a Wise&Inventive ScreenAgers project, based on media education& media literacy ( critical and creative use of technology and media), the partner schools are Biskupske gymnazium Brno a materska skola, Brno, Czech Republic, High School of Makrychori, Thessaly, Greece, Manavgat İMKB Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi, Turkey, Colegiul Dobrogean ,,Spiru Haret “ Tulcea, Romania.
Each school will organize a projection of visual testimonials created by students. The students, who have already involved in the project will share their ideas and try to answer to the question “Why media education is important and should be introduced in schools’ curricula?” All expected students to create the testimonials have had benefit of extra-curricular training during transnational project meetings offered by local NGO’s and experts from hosting countries, therefore, who have ideas about the urgent need of dealing with such a crucial topic in schools. Their answers represent their level of understanding and their view. We consider their testimonials as a way of engaging youth participation and the event a way to create the essential space to empower youngster’s voice.
